Thanksgiving at Grandma's

This year we went to Grandma Sandy's in Las Vegas for Thanksgiving. She is about to start chemo so she wanted to have everyone celebrate with her. Once she starts treatment, she'll have to be very careful about germs, so we probably won't be able to see her for a while.

We had a great time cooking lots of yummy food, playing cards, watching movies, going bowling and shopping, and spending time with each other. It was the best Thanksgiving that I can remember!

We had to get Tim in my mom's apron...

Happy 14th Birthday Kirsten!

I guess it's my turn to write on the family blog :] My birthday started with our birthday tradition around here, breakfast with Dad. I chose to go to One Man Band and ordered the Elvis Omelette, filled with mushrooms, onions, 3 different kinds of peppers, tomatoes, bacon, cheese, and ham. It was so delicious. I'm starting to crave one now, just thinking about it.

Anyways, while I'm at breakfast, I get a call from my best friend, saying that I can't skip school today, she has a huge surprise for me. So as I'm pulling up to school, she calls me again saying that I have to wait in the main hall for a minute because she's not ready yet and that she hopes I'm not wearing colors that will clash with her surprise. At this point I'm freaking out, thinking she's gonna make me wear some crazy and embarrassing hat that says "Birthday Girl" on it or something. But oh, how wrong was I. As I get to my locker, everyone just smiles at me and I"m really freaking out. But as I open my locker, streamers and candy are everywhere and my best friend pulls out this batman poster that you hang on your door that days "Drop in for a BATMAN birthday party!" and made me wear it as a cape all day. It was so embarrassing, but I made it through the day, thank goodness.

Anyways, when I got home, I opened my presents which were a gray Roxy shirt, a tan Calvin Klein dress blouse (which I absolutely LOVE!) from my parents, and a bag, a shirt, and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies from Emma and Jacquelynne. After my mom and I got in the car and drove up to Fashion Place Mall to go to Cheesecake Factory. I love Cheesecake Factory! We had the cutest waiter too :) My mom and I shared a Navajo Sandwich and a heap of fries, with an appetizer of calamari before. Afterwards, I ordered a slice of Chocolate Tuxedo Cream Cheesecake and my dearest mother got a slice of Lemon Raspberry Cheesecake. Needless to say, we were in heaven.

We bid our farewells to our delicious waiter...did I say waiter? Silly me, I meant our delicious...umm..place setting and headed over to the mall for some mother-daughter shopping. We had some great finds and killer deals. We finally headed home after a totally exhausting and collapsed (I learned a whole new meaning of "shop 'til you drop!") It was a great day and I had more fun than I could have ever hoped for!

Thanks so much, Mom and Dad! I love you!
